What we like: There are several things that are very positive about this drive including that it is incredibly fast including the boot time and has the SandForce controller which is what can be found in more expensive drives. It performs remarkably well especially given that the Verbatim name isn’t really known for drives. Users running Linux will experience near-instant boot times, which is amazing.

The Verbatim SATA III has a solidly built metal case. This drive is incredibly fast and has the ability to increase boot time by as much as 50% that can make a lot of difference. The case has an extremely thick and heavy aluminum enclosure. The drive is known to generate heat but the heat tends to spread over the drive surface instead of concentrating on one spot, which is the case with other drives.

What we don't like: Compared with other SSDs the drive is very bulky. This unit does not come with a 2.5” – 3.5” mounting adapter or a SATA cable, which would have been appreciated.

The bottom line: The Verbatim SATA III SSD is recommended because of its fast performance and how well it works with Linux systems. It receives high marks from satisfied customers and improves boot times. Users also like that it runs quietly and is compatible with Windows 7, XP and Vista operating systems and can also be used for Mac.
